DESCRIPTION: |
Specialist Wellness Counsellor serves to enhance the total wellbeing of their clients by making use of a system of approach to counselling - working towards achieving wholeness within the integrative unity of body, mind and spirit. The level of counselling is that of primary health care. Specialist Wellness Counsellors specialise in one or more of the following areas of counselling/coaching: Individual counselling, marriage counselling, lifestyle coaching, counselling for problems, trauma counselling, drug and alcohol abuse counselling, HIV/AIDS counselling, counselling for gambling research in the domain of gambling bereavement counselling, hospice counselling and support and assistance in human development. |
AWARDING CRITERIA |
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
Honours degree in Psychology, Level 8. |
Experiential Learning or Experience |
100 hours of practical experience. |
Competency Assessment |
Not applicable. |
Designation RPL Statement |
This Designation may be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. |
RETAINING CRITERIA |
In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Code of Conduct |
Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
Specialist Wellness Counsellors are required to accumulate a minimum of 18 CPD points in a one-year cycle of registration, including three CDP points on ethics and three CPD points on wellness are compulsory. |
