DESCRIPTION: |
A Wellness Counsellor serves to enhance the total wellbeing of their clients by making use of a systems approach to counselling - working towards achieving wholeness within the integrative unity of body, mind and spirit. The level of counselling is that of primary health care. This includes individual counselling, group counselling, marriage counselling, lifestyle coaching, counselling for problems, trauma counselling, drug and alcohol abuse counselling, HIV/AIDS counselling, counselling for gambling addiction, bereavement counselling, hospice counselling and support and assistance in human development. |
AWARDING CRITERIA |
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Level 7. |
Experiential Learning or Experience |
100 hours of practical experience. |
Competency Assessment |
Not applicable. |
Designation RPL Statement |
This Designation may be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. |
RETAINING CRITERIA |
In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Code of Conduct |
Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
Wellness Counsellors are required to accumulate a minimum of 15 CPD points in a one-year cycle of registration, including 3 compulsory Ethics points and 3 compulsory Wellness points. |
Fees |
Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid. |
