DESCRIPTION: |
Supportive counsellors work as helpers in counselling settings and are qualified as counsellors on at least NQF Level 4. They normally work under supervision in an institutional setting such as a church, school, clinic or hospital, police station as trauma counsellors and other similar settings. |
AWARDING CRITERIA |
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
Further Education and Training Certificate: Counselling, Level 4, 140 Credits. |
Experiential Learning or Experience |
100 hours of practical experience. |

Designation RPL Statement |
This Designation may be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. |
RETAINING CRITERIA |
In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Code of Conduct |
Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
Supportive Counsellors are required to accumulate a minimum of 6 CPD points in a one-year cycle of registration, including 3 compulsory Ethics points and 3 compulsory Wellness points. |
Fees |
Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid. |
