| DESCRIPTION: |
| The students who have registered with SANC as Nursing Auxiliaries have undergone a one-year certificate course and have written the SANC summative examination. |
| AWARDING CRITERIA |
| For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
| Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
National Certificate: Auxiliary Nursing at NQF Level 3 (Legacy qualification);
or
Higher Certificate in Nursing at NQF level 5 (new qualification). |
| Experiential Learning or Experience |
Legacy qualification: One thousand (1000) hours of clinical practice.
New qualification: 72 credits for clinical practice. |
| Competency Assessment |
Legacy qualification: The examination consists of the following two portions:
(a) A written portion conducted by the council and consisting of one paper of three hours duration;
(b) A practical portion conducted by the nursing school.
New qualification: Candidates write a summative examination conducted by the Nursing Education Institution (NEI) and licensure examination conducted by SANC. |

| RETAINING CRITERIA |
| In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |

| Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
| Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
| CPD has not yet been implemented officially. |
| Fees |
| Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid. |
