Professional Firearm Training Counsellor:
This designation is for persons who wish to pursue a career as a firearm training counsellor. |
| AWARDING CRITERIA |
| For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
| Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
Professional Firearm Training Counsellor:
Application by member to awards Committee. Awards Committee Recommends to National Executive Board.
All Unit Standards in Categories 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Experience: 1000 Learners trained plus 200 Instructors trained on the Instructor Unit Standard (total 1200 Learners).
Academic Component:
Entry level - Level 4 Qualification or equivalent. |

Professional Firearm Training Counsellor:
The experience required for this designation is a minimum of 1000 Learners trained and a minimum of 200 Instructors trained on the Instructor Unit Standard both of which have been documented and are verifiable. |
| Competency Assessment |
External Integrated Summative Assessment.
Ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Compliance. |
| Designation RPL Statement |
| This Designation may not be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. |
| RETAINING CRITERIA |
| In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
| Code of Conduct |
| Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
| Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
| Professional Firearm Training Counsellor:
120 Hours of theoretical training plus 120 hours of practical training over 36 months.
Accumulate 60 points over 36 months on the Professional Firearm Trainers Council (PFTC) point system or 20 points per year. (no less than 10 points must be achieved every 12 months).
Maintain the required PFTC grading for practical shoots. |
