| DESCRIPTION: |
| This designation is for a person who wishes to pursue a career where they will need to supervise the operation of a shooting range or shooting exercises for business or sport purposes. |
| AWARDING CRITERIA |
| For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
| Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
Professional Range Officer:
Application by member to awards Committee. Awards Committee Recommends to National Executive Board.
Unit Standard 123516, All Unit Standards in Categories: 1, 2 and 3.
150 Hours of Range work.
Academic Component:
Entry level - Level 4 Qualification or equivalent. |
| Experiential Learning or Experience |
Professional Range Officer:
This also requires a minimum of five years' firearms experience and at least 150 hours of documented time spent on a shooting range which is verifiable. |
| Competency Assessment |
External Integrated Summative Assessment.
Ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Compliance. |
| Designation RPL Statement |
| This Designation may not be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. |
| RETAINING CRITERIA |
| In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
| Code of Conduct |
| Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
| Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
| Professional Range Officer:
120 Hours of Range work over 36 months or 40 hours per year.
Accumulate 60 points over 36 months on the Professional Firearm Trainers Council (PFTC) point system or 20 points per year, (no less than 10 points must be achieved every 12 months). |

| Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid. |
