DESCRIPTION: |
Disaster Management Technician contributes to a continuous and integrated multi-disciplinary and multi-sector process of structured planning and implementation of measures to mitigate disasters, manage preparedness and responses to emergencies and post-disaster recovery. |
AWARDING CRITERIA |
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
NQF Level 5 qualification in Disaster Management. |
Experiential Learning or Experience |
A minimum of 3 years in the field of Disaster Management. |
Competency Assessment |
Two summarised reports of specific disaster management projects in which the member participated, of no more than 500 words each. It should indicate the ability of a member to contribute to the project. Proof of additional courses completed in a project and financial management will be advantageous. |
Designation RPL Statement |
This Designation may be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. |
RETAINING CRITERIA |
In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Code of Conduct |
Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
20 CPD points in a two-year cycle of registration. |
Fees |
Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid. |
