DESCRIPTION:
The Individual Staffing Professional (ISPr) is the second level of entry that requires the individual to have a Matric/NQF Level 4 qualification (intended for those without a formal qualification) and at least 5 years working experience within the staffing industry, alternatively the applicant would need to have an NQF Level 5 qualification in HR or business, or motivate for a sector specialist qualification and have 3 years of working experience in the staffing industry.

A service that an Individual Staffing Professional offers to the industry is to establish, develop and maintain long term relationships with candidates and clients by providing recruitment and selection services. They would have an understanding of their specific business need in order to perform this task. An Individual Staffing Professional would expand and maintain a database of clients whilst assessing the general market share of the industry generating recruitment solutions as per market trends. The ISPr would drive the marketing strategy for increased market share. They would be required to grow and maintain their business unit as well as to manage the operations budget, infrastructure and personnel. They would also be required to promote talent management of recruitment expertise. The ISPr would negotiate with clients on placed candidates as per the clients and candidates need and be exposed to managing and maintaining a service level agreement with a client including fees, a payment schedule and guarantees.

The Individual Staffing Professional may also be involved in managing a Temp Desk within the Temporary Employment Services (TES) industry. The service they will offer is to manage outsourced staff including recruitment and selection, industrial relations, people management, payroll and site supervision. They would maintain and expand a database of clients with temp requirements as well as a personal profile database of temp candidates. Depending on the size of the organisation and the clients account with the agency the ISPr may negotiate and place temps as per the temp candidate and clients needs. They build and maintain client and temp candidate relationships through their understanding of their specific business need.

In managing a Temp Desk the ISPr contracts with the client and manages the fees, payment schedule and guarantees as well as administration of the temp payroll, benefits, industrial relations, performance management and productivity. They would administer personal development plans in terms of workplace output and personal aspirations.
AWARDING CRITERIA
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements:
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification:
Due to the fact that some individuals who've been operating successfully in the staffing sector have no form of qualification, and should ideally be positioned at the second designation level, we have developed two "pathways" to this designation.

First pathway:
Individuals will need to be in possession of an NQF Level 5 qualification (Degree/Diploma) in Human Resources or general Business. In the event that the staffing professional is involved in a niche staffing sector they may wish to motivate for APSO to accept their qualification in that sector, i.e. Information Technology or Nursing. No further qualification will be required. The applicant is required to do the online APSO Board Exam.

Second pathway:
To cater for those long-standing members of the industry who do not have a qualification at this level, i.e. NQF Level 5, we will consider their application for the "Staffing Professional" designation if they:
  • Are in possession of Matric or other NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • Have at least five (5) years staffing industry experience.
  • Pass (with minimum 75%) our Board Exam.
