DESCRIPTION:
The FIBSA is awarded very selectively and reflects a professional and senior status in the financial services or banking industry. The professional designation can be awarded to IOBSA members or non-members. 
AWARDING CRITERIA
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: 
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification:
A Fellow who has already gained the CAIB designation would have attained an NQF 6 qualification or equivalent. A list of IOB recognized qualifications is provided in the IOBSA Handbook. 
Experiential Learning or Experience
An applicant can only be nominated when they have demonstrated to have made a significant contribution to the sector. The Fellowship is a statement of seniority in the industry. The assumption is that a practitioner would take at least five years at managerial to achieve the competencies contained within this designation. 
Competency Assessment
A desktop evaluation is performed on the application. IOBSA is currently engaging with Bankseta regarding the implementation of competency assessments /board exams. 
Designation RPL Statement
This Designation may be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. 
RETAINING CRITERIA
In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: 
Code of Conduct
Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. 
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Members are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of relevant, verifiable CPD activities in a reporting cycle. One relevant hour of CPD will earn the IOB member 1 CPD point (minimum of 50 minutes constitutes one hour). 
Fees
Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid.
