| DESCRIPTION: |
| The Internal Audit Technician (IAT) is a designation that denotes that the designation holder is competent in the practice of internal auditing. It is a South African designation recognised by SAQA and underpinned by either the Certificate: General Internal Auditing qualification (expired 2022) or the Occupation Certificate: Internal Auditing. To use the designation a designation holder must be a member of the IIA SA in good standing. |
| AWARDING CRITERIA |
| For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
| Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
| Must have completed the Diploma: Technician: Internal Auditing at NQF Level 7 with SAQA ID 20358. |
| Experiential Learning or Experience |
must have a minimum of 2 years internal auditing experience if the Diploma: Technician: Internal Auditing is completed by registering for the full qualification which includes a compulsory experiential component,
OR
minimum 4 years internal audit experience if the qualification was completed via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). |
| Competency Assessment |
| Must successfully complete the final competency assessment for the Occupational Certificate: Internal Audit. |

| RETAINING CRITERIA |
| In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
| Code of Conduct |
| Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
| Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
| Members are required to report CPD activities annually. A practising internal Audit Technician must complete 30 CPD hours. A non-practising Internal Audit Technician must complete 15 CPD hours. |

| Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid. |
