DESCRIPTION:
This designation is for persons who wish to pursue a career as a firearm training counsellor. 
AWARDING CRITERIA
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: 
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification:
National Senior Certificate or Senior Certificate or NQF Level 4 qualification. 
Experiential Learning or Experience
All unit standards in categories: 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

CATEGORY 1
117705: Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act No. 60 of 2000)

CATEGORY 2
119649: Handle and use a Handgun.
119650: Handle and use a self-Loading Rifle or Carbine.
119651: Handle and use a manually operated Rifle or Carbine.
119652: Handle and use a Shotgun.

CATEGORY 3
123515: Handle and Use a Handgun for Business purposes.
123514: Handle and use a Shotgun for Business purposes.
123511: Handle and use a self-loading Rifle or Carbine for business purposes.
123519: Handle and use a manually operated Rifle or Carbine for business purposes.
123516: Supervise Shooting Exercises.

CATEGORY 4
123510: Apply tactical knowledge in the use of firearms.
123513: Demonstrate tactical proficiency with a Handgun.

    RETAINING CRITERIA
    In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: 
    Code of Conduct
    Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. 
    Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
    Accumulate 80 points over 36 months on the PFTC point system or 20 points per year (no less than 10 points must be achieved every 12 months). 
    Fees
    Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid.
