DESCRIPTION:
Certified Master Coach (MC):
A Certified Master Coach represents the mark of competency for the coaching profession and is specifically geared to business, leadership, executive and performance coaches, as well as seasoned coaching programme sponsors, who have deep business knowledge in addition to their coaching competencies. IMCSA members with a minimum of 500 hours of coaching experience are eligible to become Certified Master Coaches (MC) by assessment. IMCSA Certified Management Consultants (CMCs) are eligible for MC credits. 
AWARDING CRITERIA
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: 
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification:
To apply for MC status, you need to have completed a membership application and have been accepted as a member coach of the IMCSA.

The fundamental requirements are:
  • An undergraduate Degree, or its equivalent, in a relevant discipline in business and coaching related fields.
  • A minimum of 500 hours executive coaching experience, backed by a portfolio of evidence and references of your effectiveness from clients.
  • That you practice:
    > As a coach, internally or externally to an organisation.
    Or
    > As a consultant who offers coaching as an integrated part of your services.
    Or
    > In a role in an organisation that requires the application of coaching to purposefully improve organisational functioning.
  • A commitment to ongoing personal professional development.
  • Adherence to the IMCSA Code of Ethics and an applied learning approach to resolving ethical issues.

    Academic Component:
    The minimum requirement is for an undergraduate degree, or its equivalent, in a relevant discipline in business related fields and coaching related fields, plus completion of an IMCSA recognised coaching course/qualification. 
  • Experiential Learning or Experience
    The emphasis of the IMCSA Certified Master Coach Designation is on proven demonstration of the effective practical application of coaching in the work or market place. 
    Competency Assessment
    In addition to the requirements for Coach Membership of the IMCSA, a Master Coach application is in two parts, namely:
  • The Portfolio of Evidence.
  • The Interview/ Presentation.

    The Portfolio of Evidence consists of:
  • An Assignment Study.
  • A competency mapping.
  • Signed Code of Conduct.
  • A Professional Record.

    The interview includes a Presentation on the same subject as the Assignment Study, and you will be asked questions about all of the evidence submitted. 
  • Designation RPL Statement
    This Designation may be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. 
    RETAINING CRITERIA
    In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: 
    Code of Conduct
    Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. 
    Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
    The importance of continuing practical application in the Certified Master Coach Designation is reflected in the CPD requirements of the IMCSA. The emphasis is on continuous applied learning, testing new knowledge and approaches, reflecting on, and evaluating the effectiveness of the professional's ongoing practice. This evaluation is best carried out with the support of a peer, a mentor or an ongoing relationship with a qualified coach supervisor.

    There will be 3 general areas of development that contribute towards an individual's annual achievement towards the average score of 100 points over 3 years. These areas have been identified to ensure that a member seeks more than just "expertise" but is recognized for ongoing contributions to the quality of practice of coaching.

    These areas are:
  • Functional and Sectoral Competencies based on an individual's core professional competency base.
  • Coaching and Societal Competencies and Contributions. (PESTLE).
  • Emerging and Developing Issues and Competencies.
    Any other area that is proven relevant.

    Development activity will qualify in any one of these main areas, such as seminars, workshops and courses, personal professional participation and activities, including reflection and action learning with peers, mentors or coach supervisors. 
  • Fees
    Ensure that the annual membership fee is paid.
