Earning the SACIA Certified Audio-Visual (AV) Practitioner designation signifies an individual's commitment to excellence in all aspects of the audio-visual profession and binds the individual to a higher code of business practice and ethics. |
AWARDING CRITERIA |
For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification: |
Individual's looking to hold the certified Audio-Visual (AV) practitioner designation need to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the professional Audio-Visual (AV) industry.
Academic Component:
The candidate should hold any appropriate NQF Level 5 qualification or equivalent. |
Experiential Learning or Experience |
The candidate should be able to demonstrate minimum three years relevant work experience in the audio-visual sector. |
Competency Assessment |
The candidate should be able to demonstrate their skill and competence by passing a multiple-choice examination, or by participating in a formal competency assessment carried out by the SACIA Certification Council. Each candidate should also provide written testimonials supporting their claim of competence. |
Designation RPL Statement |
This Designation may not be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning. |
RETAINING CRITERIA |
In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with the following minimum requirements: |
Code of Conduct |
Members must adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics. |
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) |
Each designee is required to acquire a total of 70 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits in each three year period, starting from the date of award of the professional designation.
CPD points are awarded based on relevant content bearing activity in which the candidate has participated. Usually, 1 CPD credit is awarded for every hour of activity.
A wide range of activities provide CPD credits, including training, employment, reading relevant journals and text books, writing articles, mentorship, participation in conferences and seminars, etc. |
